Videos from the Sake Tasting

So, I managed to upload some quick videos to Viddler. The first one is a couple of koto players. This video is probably the least interesting, and it’s not because the koto players were poor. Rather, it is difficult to capture koto music in a short burst. It would have been better to be able to record a long video of them playing to get a better feel. The pacing is slow for the music. Anyway, I did the best I could.

The next video is of a shamisen player. He was excellent, and the video highlights the shamisen music. I love the Yoshida Brothers, and this kid trains under them. So, I think he did a really great job.

This next video I recorded for David, because he likes cat girls. It was one of the dancing acts. The cat girls were a little disorganized and did not really move as one unit, but it’s possible that the small stage was the reason for this. Either way, here is a short video of them dancing in their cat ears.

And the final video is the otaku in drag. Yes, those are guys! This was some sort of comedy routine I believe. It was pretty funny.

I didn’t get to stick around for the maid dancers and the jpop band, or I might have had even more videos. I also did not take video of the drummers, the spoken word/rap performances, or the Ainu Rebels, all of which were interesting performances. The drummers were particularly good. For photos of more of these performances and of the fashion show, you can head over to Flickr, where I’ve also posted photos from the sake tasting event. Anyway, it is 3 AM Tokyo time, so I really need to get some sleep!

I think the name of the show is “The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi,” and it was the end theme song the otaku were dancing to. Here’s a link for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2HpAE-QcQA

yeah, that does look like MoSH (which I’ve heard is really funny, but I haven’t seen any of it myself). This seems like an odd mix of traditional and modern culture things, but it looks entertaining. :)
