Leaving, on an airplane...

Okay, so I’m not leaving just yet. In fact, I have not even booked my ticket yet, although, that is one of my major goals this weekend. The hold up is an internal debate about when I should book the return flight. Some places let you change the ticket, but some places don’t… and I’d really just rather have a set plan anyway.

The issue comes from the fact that David is coming to visit me the last week I am there. My exams will by over by May 2 (I don’t know my schedule at this point, so they could be over earlier than the 2nd). So, the question is how many days after that we want to stay? If we leave by the 8th, we get a cheaper flight home. If we stay until Saturday, it’s more expensive, and if I have to start work the next week, I may be severely jet lagged through the first week or so of work. I think the most likely start date will be the 3rd week of May, which would be the 19th as a start date. That would give me a full week to get my stuff moved over to David’s and to do any suit-shopping that I need to do, as well as get over the jet lag.

So, I guess I’m leaning toward leaving the 10th of May. I guess I will have to book this weekend. A ticket through GatewayLAX between January 7th and May 10th comes out to $1017. CheapOAir has a similar ticket for $1113.92. And, as a final choice, STATravel has a similar ticket for $1091.10 (although their prices always change after you get the ticket into the cart, and the view flights link is throwing an error currently, so I can’t verify that price). It looks like GatewayLAX is still the best bet.
